Lou Rhodes - One Good Thing

One Good Thing, is the third album from Lou Rhodes, the dusky-voiced singer/songwriter best known in the U.S. as one half of the duo Lamb. It was just released in the UK and has a US release date of April 20, 2010.

You can check out some tracks at Lou's Myspace page. Also she's offering a free download of the song There For The Taking on her website.

This album is deeply personal for Lou who wrote the songs during a time of a "dark valley" after her sister's suicide and the ending of a long relationship. Raising her children alone in the secluded British countryside, the devastated Rhodes began writing songs to help bring her out of what she looks back on as her emotional free fall.

This is not a happy record, it's tone is understandably melancholy but also gives tiny glimmers of optimism for the road ahead. The title alone a message that sometimes, all you need is one good thing to keep going. Every track here is beautifully produced and worth a listen, or ten.
