New Music Tuesday 3-19-13

Yay! It's Tuesday and that means new music! Two of my favorite Rachaels put out new music today, Rachael Cantu released an album of covers, appropriately titled Covers, which is purchasable on iTunes. The album isn't on Spotify yet but she does have some other music there if you're not familiar with her work.

Also today marks the physical release of Rachael Yamagata's Heavyweight EP, which was released digitally in 2012. It can be purchased in her store. The album is also available on iTunes and can be heard on Spotify.

Alice Smith's second album She is out today. It's available on iTunes and you can listen to it on Spotify. Smith's had some songs featured on television shows so you might have heard of her. The new album is a powerful take on cabaret music. If you're local you can check her out at Tin Angel on April 7th.

Also out today is the Little Boots single Broken Record from the upcoming Nocturnes which is to be released in May. The single is available on iTunes and listenable on Spotify.

My summer obsession Lana Del Rey also has a sort of new single out today. Burning Desire was previously only available on the iTunes version of Paradise. It can be heard on Spotify now.

I didn't want to like her but I find myself still completely enamored by her.

And another Quadraphonic Sundry favorite Kathleen Edwards released her single Must Have Been Love, a cover of the 1987 Roxette hit. It's available on iTunes and can now be heard on Spotify. In January the song was used in the television show Private Practice.

The Palma Violets album 180 saw it's US release today and can be found on iTunes and Spotify. Their hit Best of Friends is still seeing a lot of airplay on indie/college radio.

Other notable releases today were Justin Timberlake's first official LP in something like 7 years, but don't worry there is another one coming in November... The Black Crowes, and Low.

In other news, John Legend recently sampled Ingrid Michaelson and Sarah Bareilles' Winter Song, the original is one of my favorites (and my first selection ever for my musical diary songs) I'm really liking what he's done with it.

The song will be appearing on his forthcoming album Love In The Future set for release later this Spring.

*I will try to get these up earlier on Tuesdays starting next week. If you have anything to add to the list please post in comments or Email Me :)
